Men’s Fours

Back to news

The Men’s 4’s round 2 was played this evening, with the summer possibly and eventually arrived – well may be just for a couple of days, and saw the holders crash out at Morpeth BC

Tonight at Carlisle Park, Morpeth the fours champions lost their title to home favourites Bob Leeson, skipped by Rob Lee – the game was delicately poised at 6 – 5 at 10 ends, but a run of scoring for the Morpeth quartet saw them take the tie 16 – 5.  Next up for the Morpeth team is an away fixture against mutliple county winner in Gosforth’s Chris Yeomans, as tonight saw Chris won at Forest Hall 23 – 12 against Dave Bell.

On other away wins, where there was better news for the St. George Dragons at Ashington – with the rink skipped by Darren Parkes (name under N Aitchison) recording a good victory, winning 17 – 9 against George Richardson. In the battle of the ‘browns’, where Rockcliffe Rollers Shaun Lee Brown took on Morpeth’s Matty Brown (although Jim Taylor skipped for Rockcliffe and Paul Charlton for Morpeth), and the good news for the Morpeth club continued with a victory for Matty Brown 21 – 14. Brown will be away again next week and will take on New Delaval Knight’s Ant Barke, as Ant won tonight at Ashington – beating Tony Fairfax 23 – 8 (name under S Anderson).

There was good news for Percy BC this evening, with both of their fours winning tonight – firstly Brian Rodgerson defeated Seghill’s Ian Nolan, and David Leslie defeating another Rockliffe rink in Darryl Illingworth. Next week Rodgerson will be away at Collingwood, where Brian will take on Michael London, as tonight London (skipped by Alan Gibson) defeated Rothbury’s Rob Donkin (skipped by David Bolton) 18 – 17. David Leslie will have home advantage again next week and will play Gosforth Dillon Slasor, as Dillon recorded an away victory back at his former club Walker St. Peters, defeating Peter Brewis 21 – 14.  There was better news for Brewis’s clubmate Gary Lambert who beat Forest Hall’ s Joe Harrison 16 – 9 (name under Chris Coan), Gary will be at home next week against Gosforth’s Jimbo Curtis.  There was mixed news in the last couple of ties to report on for St. Georges with Gary Myerscough’s rink winning at home against Cramlington’s Tony Fantozzi (name under D Clough) 18 – 14, Gary will be away next at North Shields West End, as Graeme Robson (skipped by Darren Little) beat his namesake St. George’s Dean Robson 20 – 12 at North Shields.

The other games were walk-overs. The final game to receive the result on was the match at Hexham House (Dan Stringer v Stan Lant (BD). At the half way stage the game was in the balance with a scoreline of 10 – 8 to Hexham (skipped by Clive Knott), but the Benfield four could only score on two of the remaining ends which resulted in a Hexham home victory 21 – 10. Clive will have home advantage next week and will take on St. Georges Dragons Neil Aitchison.

Well done to all concerned tonight.
