Singles Reaches 1/4 Finals

Last years semi-finalist Darren Parkes (ST) scored an impressive away victory at Gosforth against former champion Brian Houghton. The other former champion to be eliminated was another Gosforth bowler Kevin Bone, who lost to Backworth's Roy Goldsmith. Goldsmith will now play former champion Dave Thompson (HV) at home next week.

St. Georges' Dan Bennett continued his impressive away victories, this time defeating Alan Stewart at Newbiggin (21 - 20). Dan will now play Gosforth's Simon Richardson, who had a good tussle against Ant Barke (New Delaval), winning 21 - 17. On the former champions, there was good news for Richard Train who defeated Gosforth clubmate Steve Pallas.

Overall it was a good evening for St. Georges' where their 3 representatives all won - and they will have one representative at least in the semi-finals, as Darren Parkes plays Kevin Blaylock; where Kevin beat Middleton Cup and Gosforth Bowler Jack Miller (21 - 15). In the final tie of the round New Delaval's Dean Robson overcome Haltwhistle's Jason Forster, and Dean now faces Train away next Monday.

The quarter-final ties will be played next Monday - 9th July at 6:30pm
