County Fours Round 2

The "exciting" finishes were across 3 of the games - Backworth Welfare's George Parker scored a 5 on the 21st end to take the game 19 - 18 against Portland's Gren Richardson; Parker's rink will now face Graeme Donkin (Rothbury) - at Rothbury tonight Donkin was playing St. Georges' rink skipped by Darren Parkes, with the game poised at 14 all at 19 ends, the Rothbury team scored a 4 and 3 to to get over the line. The final game close was the rink of Gosforth's Train (Harvey named) against Backworth Welfare's Paul Ging. Ging's rink clawed themselves back after being 7 behind to close up to only 2 behind on the last end. The last end unfolded and with one bowl to play by Richard Train, he faced game down, as was 5 against - Train played a great bowl and moved the jack to secure 1 important shot and victory (18 - 15).

The results tonight show Gosforth have 4 in the last 8, with 2 facing each other (Harvey / Bennett). The next round is scheduled for Friday 29th June at 6:30pm.
