Bowls England National Finals Updated

Our representatives in the Senior Pairs Gosforth's Steve Pallas and Richard Train faced a preliminary tie against Isle of Wight's Phil Brooks and Pete Furmidge at 9:30am on Friday, and despite being down through the stages of the game, and 8 down with 2 ends to go, they scored a 5 and a 3 to force an extra end - which they duly won. In the afternoon our duo played Somerset's John Bosley and Duncan McGovern and we scored a good victory by 12 shots, which puts us through to the last 16 tomorrow am.

In the Junior Singles (Under 25's) our representative Gosforth's Jack Miller starts his campaign on Saturday at 9:30am against Dan Swanson (Watlington BC, Oxfordshire A).

The main events (as in Singles, Pairs, Triples, Fours) start on Sunday (19th) with the 4's (prelim & early 1st rounds), fortunately and on this occasion neither of our fours face a prelim tie and are in action on Monday at 9:30am in the first round.

Our county winners Gosforth's Chris Yeomans (Northumberland "B") play Wellingborough's Neil Corbyn (Northamptonshire "A"), and our other representatives from Rothbury Graeme Donkin will play Tom Cawdell (Luton Town, Bedfordshire "B").

I will keep you updated throughout the finals on our representatives, and I am sure like myself we wish each of them the very best of luck.
