BE Finals - Weekend

On Saturday Richard Train took on Berkshire's Michael Blizzard and after very early exchanges Train led 2-1. However from this point Blizzard blew Train away scoring 16 unanswered shots to take a commanding lead of 17-2. Train fought back to get to 19-11 but Blizzard scored 2 single shots to take the victory.

On Sunday (and a very wet day) our first representatives in the pairs Backworth Welfare's Ian Brown and Paul Ging faced another prelim tie against Sussex C Richard Moses & Carl Blinco. Sussex started the slightly better taking a 5-2 lead, but Brown & Ging quickly drew level and from this point took control of the game. And with only 2 ends to go we led by 11 shots, and Ging with his first bowl ditched the jack and claimed a decisive victory 23-10. Therefore both of our pairs are into round 1 on Monday (9:30am) where Brown and Ging play Worcestershire A - Martin Leedham & Richard Moule. Our other representatives from Portland Colin Boyle and Gren Richardson start their campaign with a difficult tie playing Wiltshire B Dave Goodwin and Steve Snell - who were 2 of the fours National Champions from last week (3rd & skip in the fours).

We wish both our of representatives the very best of luck tomorrow.
