Incorporating the Mens & Womens Bowling Associations of the County of Northumberland

BE Finals - Saturday 18th

Result(s):

Junior Singles (U25's)

1st Rnd - Jack Miller 21 Dan Swanson(Oxfordshire) 9

2nd Rnd - Jack Miller 21 Connor Hart (Bedfordshire)18

3rd Rnd - Jack Miller 11 Jaxon McKenna (Durham) 21

After 2 good victories Jack is in action in his 3rd game playing our county neighbours Durham - and Jaxon McKenna (Silksworth). Jack only played Jaxon last week in the Northern Counties junior singles semi-final and only got over the line with his last bowl to win 21-20. Therefore, another close contest is expected.

Jack started off relatively well, taking a 5-3 lead, but from this point the game changed. McKenna scored 9 unanswered shots to take a 12-5 lead. Miller trying to reduce the deficit lay 3, but his last bowl unfortuantely sliced the jack and gave 2 shots away (score being 6-14). The lead stayed constant at this point, with scores being 9-16, and also 10-17, and 10-18 - where McKenna took out Miller's shot bowl to score a decisive 2, to lead 11-20, and McKenna duly collected the vital one shot on the next end to claim a 21-11 victory and book his place in the quarter-finals tomorrow am.

Senior Pairs

Last 16 - Pallas & Train 21 Griffiths & Middleton (Herefordshire) 12

1/4 Finals - Pallas & Train 18 Bell & Gallagher (Cumbria) 25

In the Senior Pairs Steve Pallas and Richard Train played the former Senior Pairs National Champions Cumbrians John Bell and Ricky Gallagher in the quarter finals. Approaching the half-way stage our lads held a 6 shot lead (14 - 8 at 9 ends); this however was clawed back and at 16 ends our lads trailed by 1 (15-16). The game was still in the balance with 2 ends to go, with only 2 shots in the game (18-20). Unfortunately the Cumbrians scored on the last 2 ends to take the game (18-25), and they will go forward to the semi-finals tomorrow morning.
