Balcomb Trophy

Into the afternoons final against Derbyshire and it was Palmer's rink that made a flying start to move 14-2 ahead whilst Yeomans trailed by 6. It was at that stage that Palmer held 3 shots and looked to be moving 15 ahead until a final delivery from the Derbyshire skip turned 3 down into 5 up, at the same time Yeomans dropped a 4 meaning the lead had been lost for the first time in the match. At the 15 end stage Palmer led by 6 and Yeomans trailed by 12, a couple of ends later and there was only a single shot in the game. With the game finely balanced and Palmer playing his final end and Yeomans his 20th, Northumberland looked in serious trouble as they lay 3 and 4 shots down respectively. Yeomans then played a great running bowl to ditch the jack for 2 and Palmer turned 3 down into 1 up and then went on to draw another with his final delivery to leave Yeomans 4 up playing the final end. At one stage during that end it looked as though Derbyshire had a slight chance, but that was quickly sniffed out and Northumberland march on hoping to emulate their 2012 success in this competition.
