Middleton Game Cup Cancelled

This Saturday's Middleton Cup game against Lincolnshire at Gosforth BC has been cancelled. This arrangement has been mutually agreed with both associations.

Singles Reaches 1/4 Finals

Last 16 of the Singles was played Monday, and the holder Backworth Welfare's Paul Ging crashed out against former champion Heaton Victoria's Dave Thompson. It was not a good evening for former champions as well, where 2 others went out.

Portland Edwardson Triumph

Portland defeated Gosforth in a thrilling Edwardson Cup Final this afternoon. Favourites Gosforth started well & held advtantage until 14 ends. Portland clawed this deficit back & took the lead at 16 ends. However, this was quickly wiped out with Gosforth holding a 2 shot lead playing the last ends. Portland weren't to be undone & secured the shots to take into extra end(s). Portland then scored on all rinks & took the cup.

Bristish Isles Series

As per earlier reference Chris Yeomans playing for England. Saturday am - England defeated Scotland 123 - 102. Chris's rink beat Derek Oliver 23 - 14. England played Ireland in the afternoon & suffered a heavy loss overall (133 - 98) but Chris won by 4.

Final Game Scores: England 128 Wales 107; Scotland 121 Ireland 109.

For England to win they needed to defeat Wales by 39 shots (& Ireland not to win). Neither of these factors were achieved and therefore Wales lifted the Hilton Trophy.
