Double Rink Delay

County Double rink Final between Amble and Burradon is now on Tuesday 31st August 10.30am  at Gosforth West Ave. due to both teams having players away to the Finals at Leamington Spa.

Challenge Cup Final

The final of the 2016 Challenge Cup took place at Alnwick BC on Saturday 16th July with the host club recording their second success in the history of the competition, the first coming back in 1936.

Alnwick's only defeat of the day was in the mid-way double header against Rothbury, a result which seemed to put their opponents in pole position. However in the very next game Rothbury failed to overturn a two shot deficit to Amble from the morning session, wining by only a single shot to lose the overall game 11-10. A result which put Alnwick back into pole poistion and with George Batey winning his final game the title went to Alnwick.

Jubilee Cup Final

In the opening matches Benfiled made a great start over Rothbury by scoring counts of 3 on the opening two ends, which ultimately give them victory as they only conceded 5 shots overall on their way to a 12-5 victory. In the other game holders North Shields West End lost by 3 shots (8-5) to Newbiggin. In the second session NSWE give themselves hope of retaining their crown when they defeated Benfield by a single shot (10-9), this despite dropping a count of 5 on the penultimate end.

Edwardson Cup Final

Backworth Welfare came from behind to record their sixth success in this competition with a 13 shot victory over the Fossway. At the 5-end stage Fossway held a slender 2 shot lead which became 4 at 10-ends. Over the next 5-ends though Backworth collected 26 shots whilst dropping only 14 to lead by 8 going into the final few ends. A lead which they maintained to run out winners by 59 shots to 46.

Balcomb Trophy

Northumberland came through two very tense games in the regional finals to reach the last four of the competition. In the semi-final a fantastic start was made with Chris Yeomans storming to a 9-1 lead and Chris Palmer 6-0 at 5 ends, by the 10th end Yeomans led by 7 and Palmer by 6. Over the next 5 ends Yeomans retained the same margin, however Palmer lost 5 consecutive ends to slip 5 behind. At the 18th end Northumberland held a slender 1 shot lead, but by winning 5 of the six remaining ends the overall score was 44-35 in Northumberland's favour.
