The team to represent Northumberland is as follows:

Chris Lewars, Richard Train, Craig Cooper & Chris Yeomans; Josh Minto, Philip Paxton, Simon Richardson & Chris Palmer. Reserves: Steve Pallas & Darren Parkes

the very best of luck to you all

Mens Finals

42-years after wining his first county title Gosforth's Mick McGreevy lifted the trophy that has eluded him to date. In 1974 McGreevy triumphed in the Under 25 Singles championship and despite many other titles coming his way, including a National Pairs Runners-up medal in 1982, the Singles looked to have passed him by when losing out in the final in 2012. Today however McGreevy joined an elite group of players to have won all four of the major county championships with a 21-18 win over 1999 champion Paul Ging (BW).

In the Pairs event Internationals Josh Minto & Chris Yeomans (G) held on to defeat Darren Parkes & Chris Palmer (ST) 23-20. The Gosforth Pair picked up a big score with the game evenly poised and despite the efforts of the St Georges Pair Minto & Yeomans lifted the title in only their second year of playng together.

Ladies Finals

Jean Allen of Hexham Elvaston retained her Singles crown with victory over club colleague Sheila Carter. Jean has now lifted this title on five occasions and is closing in on Nora Greenwoods record breaking seven titles. In the Pairs Burradon's Norma Craig & Pat Browne defeated M Maddiosn & Marjorie Patton (WM). Ladies President Pat completed a fantastic treble when she lifted the Triples and 2-wood title also. In the Triples she was joined by R Cartwright & K Proctor to defeat Allison Robson, Geraldine Jameson & Norma Craig, whilst in the 2-bowl she truipmhed 17-13 over Jean Allen.

The Fours title was won by Alnwick's C Dale, M Wilson, C Hume & A Daley as they defeated E Boaden, S McDonald, J Allen & S Carter (HX) in the final. And last but by no means least the Under 25's title went to R Cartwright (BU) who defeated M Ross (BW)

Challenge Cup Final

The final of the 2016 Challenge Cup took place at Alnwick BC on Saturday 16th July with the host club recording their second success in the history of the competition, the first coming back in 1936.

Alnwick's only defeat of the day was in the mid-way double header against Rothbury, a result which seemed to put their opponents in pole position. However in the very next game Rothbury failed to overturn a two shot deficit to Amble from the morning session, wining by only a single shot to lose the overall game 11-10. A result which put Alnwick back into pole poistion and with George Batey winning his final game the title went to Alnwick.

Jubilee Cup Final

In the opening matches Benfiled made a great start over Rothbury by scoring counts of 3 on the opening two ends, which ultimately give them victory as they only conceded 5 shots overall on their way to a 12-5 victory. In the other game holders North Shields West End lost by 3 shots (8-5) to Newbiggin. In the second session NSWE give themselves hope of retaining their crown when they defeated Benfield by a single shot (10-9), this despite dropping a count of 5 on the penultimate end.
