At that point both rinks scored on 6 consecutive ends collecting 17 shots to now lead by 9, and despite Nottinghamshires best efforts over the closing ends Northumberland held on to win by 8

Middleton Cup 2016

Northumberland suffered a disappointing 30 shot defeat to Lincolnshire in the opening Middleton Cup fixture of the season this afternoon (4th June).

In the opening exchanges Northumberland took a 5 shot lead, however this was short lived as they struggled to come to terms with the conditions and at 10 ends fell behind by 10 shots, which increased to 16 at 15 ends. There was a sudden change in fortune at that point and Northumberland rallied and got within 4 shots of their opponents. Unfortunately that was as close as it got and after a couple of dropped scores across the rinks heads dropped and the game was lost.
