Stella Logan vs Lancashire

It was another tough game for the Stella Logan this week as they faced Lancashire away at Manchester. S Carter was the only rink to secure Northumberland 1 point with a 15 -14 win. Overall, Northumberland lost 67 to 125.

Benfield and Gosforth do it again!

Today, June 16th, was the Triples semi-finals at Burradon bowling club. Our womens county president, R Brown, AK narrowly lost out to S. Storey, G with a final score 16-17.

In the other tie, we saw current holders K Proctor, BD gain another step closer to defending their title with a 20-8 win against S Ferguson BW.

That's now Gosforth and Benfield qualified for nationals at Royal Leamington Spa in the Fours and Triples.

4 Wood Singles, First Round

The 4 wood singles continued today, 14th June. With storm Hector in full swing, the blustering winds made for a truly challenging day for all competitors. Despite that, our semi-final qualifiers had some good results, M McNally beat G. Symons (WR) 21-1 and E Emmerson (PE) beat J Allen (HX) 21-8.
Gosforth's S Storey and Alnwick's R Brown are another step closer to qualifying for their 3rd semi-final this season, both of which won their games 21-9.
Our final game played this evening saw last year's runner-up exit the competition after conceding the game at 19-7 in favour of Wooler's V Symons.


IMPORTANT NOTE: the next round of the 4 bowl singles will now be played at Whitley & Monkseaton bowling club.

Pairs Prelims

The preliminary round of the Pairs took place on Tuesday 12th June with ties being played at both Hexham and Benfield bowling club. With Current holders having to withdraw due to injury, it is anyone's trophy this year!

Next round to be played at Ponteland, Thursday 21st June. (10 am and 6pm).

Fours Semi-Final

Gosforth and Benfield qualify for Nationals!

Northern Counties vs Yorkshire

Another cold day for the Northern Counties' match which took place Friday 8th June, at Gosforth West Avenue hosting Yorkshire. Northumberland were able to walk away with 3 out of the possible 10 points with rink wins from N. Craig, M. Paton and R. Brown. Final result was N'land 95, Yorkshire 128.
In their next match (June 29th
), they play at home to Cumbria where they look to better their away tie where they obtained 2 points. This will be held at Carlisle Park, Morpeth.

Triples Reach Semi-Finals

Benfield played host to the 2nd round of the Triples today (June 7th). In the morning there was an incredibly close game between E.Boaden (HX) and R Brown (AK), with Alnwick picking up 2 shots on the last end to win overall by 1, meanign R Brown qualified for her 2nd semi-final fixture so far this season.
Additionally, S. Storey (G) had a good win (25-14) against L. Lea (M) so she too has made it through to her second semi-final this season.
Congratulations also goes to S. Ferguson and team (BW) for progressing to their first semi-final this season with a close game against M. Maddison (WM), they will face current holders, K. Proctor (BD), who received a walk over from R. Henderson (CH) due to an injury within their team and unable to find a substitute.
