Northern Counties vs Cumbria

June 29th was the Northern Counties final home game for this season, they face Cumbria at Carlisle Park, Morpeth. After only gaining 2 points during their away game, they had high hopes to better this performance. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be, once again securing 2 points out of a possible 10 having 2 winning rinks, these points were obtained by M Paton, winning by 3 and P Browne by an impressive 12 shots. However this still resulted in an overall loss, N'land 98 - Cumbria 126.

4 Wood Singles reach Semi's

Another scorching day made bowling difficult for all of our 4 bowl competitors as they battled for a place in the semi-final. Our President, Ray Brown (AK) has reached her fourth semi-final so far this season, after her victory today over V. Symons, WR. She'll be looking to secure her place in the national finals this time, but will first need to face Ponteland's E Emmerson who recorded a good result over S. Storey, G.
In the second half of the draw, P. Browne was unable to continue her impressive season after a 21 -15 defeat off B Perry, BU. She'll have a tough match in the semi-final against S Ratcliffe, AK, who will be determined to do her part, aiming for an 'all Alnwick' final. She'll certainly have the confidence to do so after defeating her tough opponent, M McNally (AM) 21- 13.

The 2-bowl and 4-bowl semi-final will take place at Chirton bowling club, Saturday 7th July.

Walker Cup Win!

Today. Sunday 24th June, Northumberland began their Walker Cup campaign as they hosted Cumbria ladies at Gosforth bowling club. The player's certainly had great weather for it and a result to match! R. Brown's rink had a tough struggle, but kept the game close and only lost by 6 shots (13-19), this meant it was down to P Browne and team to secure the overall win, thankfully they did just that with a final score of 22-13.
Overall, Northumberland edge the win by 3 shots, 35 to Cumbria's 32.

Congratulations to all of our players!

Next round of the Walker Cup will be away against Nottinghamshire at Middlesbrough on July 15th.
