Championship update - 7th August.

So far this championships we have seen early exits in the Senior Pairs (R. Johnson, G) and U25 Singles (M Ross, G). R. Cartwright (BD) had a good win in the first round but this was short lived as she was defeated in the second round of her last year of the U25s.

In the 4s, S Storey (G) was defeated in the 2nd round by Worcs. However, Benfield C Gardner progress through to the last 16 after winning their first 2 games (Cambs: 23-13, Hampshire: 23-16).

They face Nottingham in the last 16 on Wednesday 8th August, 9:30 am - COME ON GIRLS!!

National Championships 2018

Now for the main event! This weekend is the start of the National Championships at Royal Leamington Spa.

Senior Rinks Final & Pairs Semi-Final

Stamina was key for all competitors today as they took to Forest Hall to play for their place in next week's final and Leamington Spa.

Northern Counties Away to Durham

This week, Friday 20th July was the Northern's turn to face Durham. Results were still not going in Northumberland's favour with only 1 winning rink therefore only securing 1 point. Overall Northumberland lost 81 - 153.

Over 55 Rinks

G Stapylton and team qualify for Nationals as they beat County president R Brown (AK) at Benfield, they ended the game with 2 ends to play due to the adverse weather.

They'll be waiting until Sunday 22nd to see if they play N Craig (BU) or A Daley (AK) in the final at Forest Hall as the other game was called off due to flooding, tied 18 all with 2 ends rremaining.

The final will take place12 pm at Forest Hall.

Stella Logan vs Durham

Friday 13th proved unlucky for the Stella Logan team as they brought home 3 points, only losing the overall game by 6 shots. Northumberland 111 vs Durham 117.

The team now have a long time to recover, as their next match away to Cumbria does not take place until after Nationals at Leamington on 31st August.

Pairs and Over 55 Rinks

*Important note*

The over 55 Rinks final has been moved forward in order to notify Bowls England of the regional representstives before the cut off.

The FINAL will take place alongside the pairs semi-final at Forest Hall on Sunday 22nd July, 10:30am, please register by 10.
