BNOTT Constitution
BOWLS NORTH OF THE TYNE CONSTITUTION
1. Name
The name of the Organisation is BOWLS NORTH OF THE TYNE, hereafter to be referred to as
'the BNOTT Organisation' and shall be affiliated to Bowls Northumberland (which incorporates both
the Men's and Ladies sections of that organisation).
2. Objects
The BNOTT Organisation objects are to foster and promote the Sport of Bowls at all levels
providing opportunities for Healthy Living, Recreation, and Competition. To assist and advise
all Bowling Clubs how to apply for regional grants.
To liase with Local Authorities and other bodies in the application of such grant application.
Where ever possible to provide facilities for the recreation and other leisure time occupation
of the public, with the object of improving their conditions of health particularly by provision
of facilities for the sport of bowling.
3. Honorary Officers
The Officers of the BNOTT Organisation shall be as follows:
President of BNMS
Secretary of BNMS
Treasurer of BNMS
Executive Officers of BNMS
4. Election of Officers
4.1 All officers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Bowls Northumberland Men's
Section (BNMS), and by, the members of BNMS.
4.2 All oficers are elected for a period of one year, but may be re-elected to the same office or another
office for the following year.
5. General Committee
5.1 The affairs of the Organisation shall be controlled by the General Purposes Committe (GPC), comprising
the Executive Officers of the Organisation and Five other members elected from, and by, the Full Members
of BNMS. The GPC shall meet at agreed intervals and not less that Four times per year.
5.1.1 The duties of the GPC shall be:
5.1.2 Control the affairs of the BNOTT Organisation on behalf of the members.
5.1.3 Keep accurate accounts of the financesof the BNOTT Organisation through the Treasurer. These should be
available for reasonable inspection by Members and should be audited before every Annual General Meeting.
The BNMS shall mantain a bank current account and the following Officers shall be authorised BNOTT
Organisation cheques: - Two from, the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.
5.1.4 Co-opt additional members of the Committee as the Committee feels this is necessary. Co-opted members
shall not be entitled to vote on the Committee.
5.1.5 Make decisions on the basis of a simple majority vote. In the case of equal votes. The Chairman shall be
entitled to an additional casting vote.
6. General Meetings
The BNOTT Organisation is wholly managed by the Officers of BNMS. Members must advise the Secretary in
writing of any business to be moved at the Annual General Meeting at least (14) days before the meeting.
The Secretary shall circulate or give notice of the agenda of the meeting to the Members at not less than
14 days before the meeting.
7. Alterations to the Constitution
Any proposed alterations to the BNOTT Constitution may only be considered at an Annual or Special General
Meeting convened with the required written notice of the proposal. Any alteration or amendment must be proposed
by a Full Member of the Organisation and seconded by a Full Member. Such alterations shall be passed if supported
by not lessthan two-thirds of those Full Members present at the meeting, assuming that a quorum has been achieved.
8. Dissolution
If the Management Committee decides that it is necessary or advisable to disolve the BNOTT Organisation it shall call
a meeting of all members of the Organisation, of which not less than fourteen days' notice (stating the terms of the
resolution to be proposed) shall be given).
If the proposal is confirmed by two-thirds majority of those present, the Management Committee shall have power to
realise any assets held by or on behalf of the BNOTT Organisation.
Any assets remaining after the satisfaction of any proper debts and liabilities shall be given or transfered to such other
voluntary organisation/s having objects simular to the objects of the BNOTT Organisation as the members of the BNOTT
Organisation may determine or failing that shall be applied for some other charitable purpose.
